How Does a Hydraulic Pump Regulator Work?

2024-12-21

A hydraulic pump regulator is a regulating device installed on the hydraulic pump, which is mainly used to adjust the output flow and pressure of the pump. It also includes components such as pressure control valve, flow control valve and flow feedback element.

By sensing the pressure changes in the hydraulic system, the hydraulic pump regulator can adjust the output flow and pressure. When the hydraulic system is working, the pressure change will cause the pressure control valve and flow control valve in the regulator to work, that's the reason why the operation of the hydraulic system can remain stable and efficient.

When the hydraulic pump starts to output pressure, the pressure control valve will sense and control the output flow and pressure according to the pre-set working parameters. If the pressure increases, the pressure control valve will reduce the output flow of the hydraulic pump. Conversely, if the pressure drops, the pressure control valve will increase the output flow, let the output pressure remain within the set value range.

Except from the pressure control valve, the flow control valve in the hydraulic pump regulator can help keep the flow in the system constant, while the flow feedback element can realize feedback control. These components work together to provide complete regulation functions.
